Paulist Father John Hurley was ordained a priest in 1977. Founding the Paulist Center for Catholic Evangelization in Portland, OR in 1979, his leadership later went national serving as Ex. Director for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Secretariat for Evangelization. He also served as Ex. Dir. of the National Pastoral Life Center in New York City, the Dept. for Evangelization in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Vicar for Evangelization in the Diocese of San Jose. Since 2014, he serves as a consultant for New Evangelization Strategies based at Old St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco where he once served as pastor. Since 2016 he is serving as coordinator for synodality in the Diocese of San Diego. Since 2023, he is overseeing a diocesan initiative, Re- Imagining Parish Life & Leadership in a Synodal Church.
