The Archdiocese of Las Vegas Celebrates Pope Leo XIV
Learn More“This is indeed a jubilee time in the Archdiocese of Las Vegas,” Archbishop Thomas said in his homily, “as one of our own steps forward to be ordained into the office of the priesthood.”
Born in Nigeria in 1979, Fr. Igbokwe is one of seven children and the brother of a priest. After 13 years of formation in his home Diocese of Ogui, he came to the U.S., earning a master’s in clinical psychology while staying deeply rooted in prayer and service. He moved to Las Vegas in 2020, entered seminary in 2021, and completed his studies at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon.
He served in several local parishes, most recently at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary.
Archbishop Thomas urged him to embrace a life of prayer, preaching, hope, and healing. “The priest must be a man who knows Jesus intimately,” he said, quoting Pope Benedict. “From this night forward, you will have the unmerited privilege of celebrating the Eucharist — the ultimate source of your happiness.”
Following his ordination, Fr. Magnus has been assigned as Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary. The Archdiocese joins in prayerful support as he begins this new chapter of priestly ministry in service to the people of God.
