The Archdiocese of Las Vegas Celebrates Pope Leo XIV
Learn MoreLas Vegas (May 14, 2024) — St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church held its first parish picnic in nine years on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Lone Mountain Regional Park.
Fr. Steve Hoffer celebrated the parish’s 4 PM Saturday Mass at Lone Mountain Park with parishioners gathered around in lawn chairs rather than at the parish hall. “Just before Jesus ascended into heaven, he told his disciples to ‘Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature,” said Fr. Steve. “As a parish, we want to bring the Church to the people and take our faith community out into the community,” Fr. Steve continued.
Parishioners enjoyed fellowship during the parish picnic. Luis Maldonado, Grand Knight of the St. Anthony of Padua Council, said, “Fr. Steve gathered us as a community at our first picnic in several years, and it was a great success.”
Following the picnic, Fr. Steve and Fr. Vincent Ihuoma, MSP, Parochial Vicar at St. Anthony of Padua, raced down the slides, cheered on by the parish’s youth.
